Service overview
Automated Plate Preservation Before Fabrication
Regal Industrial's Donora facility operates an automated plate preservation line that produces a media-blasted surface profile and applies an inorganic zinc preconstruction primer in a single continuous process. The line prepares plate to an SSPC-SP5 or SSPC-SP10 finish with a 2-2.5 mil surface profile.
Preconstruction primer provides immediate corrosion protection after blasting and is designed to support downstream plasma cutting, bending, rolling, and welding. The complete program can be coordinated with Regal's plate cutting, fabrication, advanced coating, rail, and flatbed trucking capabilities.

Benefits Built Into the Program
Immediate Protection
Inorganic zinc preconstruction primer is applied immediately after blasting to preserve the prepared steel surface during storage and processing.
Fabrication Ready
Primed plate can proceed to plasma cutting, bending, rolling, and welding with minimal disruption to downstream production.
One-Facility Workflow
Blasting, priming, cutting, welding, advanced coatings, rail access, and flatbed trucking can be coordinated through the Donora operation.

Application and Inspection Methods
Material and Specification Review
Confirm plate sizes, condition, cleanliness standard, surface-profile range, primer product, target thickness, and handling requirements.
Abrasive Blast Cleaning
Clean the steel to the specified SSPC/NACE preparation standard and establish the required anchor profile.
Primer Application
Apply the approved preconstruction or holding primer within the permitted time window and environmental conditions.
Verification and Handling
Document preparation and coating checks, address approved repairs, and handle finished plate to reduce coating damage before delivery.
Representative Applications
Typical project types supported by this service include:
Plan Your Next Coating Project
Provide the plate list, dimensions, preparation standard, approved primer, target thickness, fabrication requirements, and delivery schedule for review.
